Central Electric Cooperative Celebrates 1-Year Safety Achievement
Parker, Pa., March 9, 2009 – Central Electric Cooperative (CEC) recently celebrated its one-year anniversary of operations without a lost-time injury. CEC’s 70+ employees serve 25,000 members with over 3,000 miles of distribution lines. Jobs cover a wide variety of skills, from maintaining lines and restoring power during storms, to visiting members to help them be more energy efficient.
Fred Bowser, manager of operations, says “our employees work hard to be safe. This includes everyone from the lineman climbing the pole to the person taking your payment in the office. We train our employees on subjects including defensive driving, trenching and excavating, grounding and hazardous materials. Safety is very important to Central Electric.”
