PARKER, PA, July 25, 2011 – Crews of Parker-based Central Electric Cooperative (CEC) are working to restore power to approximately 400 members in the Bonniebrook and Lake Oneida areas of Butler county.
CEC expects these members to be restored by early evening and thanks members for their patience.
Members experiencing service interruptions should call the outage number 1-800-282-8610.
Always avoid downed wires, assume they are live, and report them to your electric provider.

Members Invited to Co-op’s Annual Meeting
PARKER, PA, July 25, 2011- All members of Central Electric Cooperative (CEC) are invited to attend the 74th Annual Meeting on Saturday, Aug. 27, 2011 at Whitehall Camp & Conference Center in Emlenton to elect cooperative board members from Forest and Venango counties, learn what is happening in the electric industry, and enjoy great entertainment and food.
Registration will open at 11 a.m. Lunch will be served from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. (guests must have dinner tickets to receive meals). Members must register by 1 p.m. to qualify for door prizes. They can visit the marketing tent to learn how to save money on electric bills and become politically involved in energy issues. Vendors from Dr. Water Heater, U$X, Clarion Electric and ACRE Co-op Owners for Political Action will be present.
Burning Daylight will perform from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. At 1 p.m. CEC Board President, Marge Terwilliger will open the meeting with the Parker VFW Post 7073 presenting the colors of the flag, and Stacey Bechtel of CEC singing the national anthem. CEO & General Manager, Matt Boshaw will report on 2010 events and issues and financial standings. Guest speaker Frank M. Betley, president and CEO of the Pennsylvania Rural Electric Association will speak. Winners of door prizes will be randomly drawn at the conclusion of the evening. Winners of all prizes must be members, and present, to win.
Special parking is available for members with state–issued handicapped parking permits. Others can take advantage of the golf carts to transport them across the parking lot to the tabernacle.

Local Teens Selected for Tour of Nation’s Capital
PARKER, PA, July 18, 2011 – Allyson Olkowski and Christopher Znosko, both from near East Brady, PA recently participated in the Washington D.C. Youth Tour program. Both represented Central Electric Cooperative of Parker, PA. They spent six days with 87 peers from other Pennsylvania and New Jersey electric cooperatives.
Each June, over 1,500 high school junior students from across the country meet their elected representatives in the U.S. House and Senate, see historic sites, and interact with other students from across the country who participated in their state’s Youth Tour program. Participants learn first-hand what it is like to be involved in politics, community service and today’s pressing issues in the energy industry.
“I will always remember the educational experiences and the new friends I made on Youth Tour,” commented Christopher Znosko. Allyson Olkowski shared her thoughts about Youth Tour saying, “If it wasn’t for Youth Tour, I wouldn’t have met such amazing people and shared such a great experience.
Youth Tour has been a 47 year joint effort of local electric co-ops, such as Central Electric Cooperative, their state-wide associations, and the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA), based in Arlington, Va.
