  • Local Teens Selected for Tour of Nation’s Capital

PARKER, PA, July 18, 2011 – Allyson Olkowski and Christopher Znosko, both from near East Brady, PA recently participated in the Washington D.C. Youth Tour program. Both represented Central Electric Cooperative of Parker, PA. They spent six days with 87 peers from other Pennsylvania and New Jersey electric cooperatives.

Participants learn first-hand what it is like to be involved in politics, community service and today’s pressing issues in the energy industry.

“I will always remember the educational experiences and the new friends I made on Youth Tour,” commented Christopher Znosko. Allyson Olkowski shared her thoughts about Youth Tour saying, “If it wasn’t for Youth Tour, I wouldn’t have met such amazing people and shared such a great experience.

Youth Tour has been a 47 year joint effort of local electric co-ops, such as Central Electric Cooperative, their state-wide associations, and the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA), based in Arlington, Va.
