CEC Makes Significant Progress in Power Restoration

Sunday | March 15, 2026

On Friday, March 13, a major wind event producing winds of at least 60 mph impacted many states, including CEC’s service territory, for an extended period. The storm caused widespread damage, leaving over a million people without power.

At the peak of the storm, nearly 13,000 CEC members were without electricity, as of 2:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 14. These outages included six substations that were down due to power supply issues.

CEC immediately engaged its entire workforce, with additional assistance joining restoration efforts by 6:00 p.m. Friday evening. More crews were activated throughout Saturday and again at first light on Sunday morning.

Twenty-four hours into the event, crews made significant progress, restoring power to all but approximately 1,000 members. Crews continue to work safely and efficiently around the clock, and CEC anticipates full restoration by Monday, March 16th. Individual restoration times may vary depending on the extent of damage identified when crews arrive on site.

Currently, approximately 750 members remain without power. These outages are largely due to downed trees and numerous broken poles. CEC’s full workforce remains engaged, supported by multiple additional crews, to restore power to all members as quickly as possible. CEC and all assisting crews are prepared for the wind advisory issued for the area this evening. If forecasted winds of up to 50 mph impact CEC’s service territory, additional outages may occur and could extend the current full restoration timeline.

Members are encouraged to keep outage safety top of mind. CEC thanks all members for their continued patience and understanding as restoration efforts continue.
